♥ Tuesday Weigh-in: 206.0 ♥
I had my six-week check-in complete with measurements this week. I’ve lost 4 1/2 inches off my waist. That’s pretty cool, huh? Plus I’ve hit the benchmark of losing 10% of my body weight. I also promised pictures, I think, so here they are:
I don’t see much difference, but other people keep telling me that they do.
One thing I have noticed is that my pants have started to fall down. To rectify that, I went to some consignment stores last weekend. The first place we went, my mom (who is in town right now) asked where they kept jeans in larger sizes. Like 16. The woman looked at her like she had a peacock growing out of her head and said, “We don’t carry anything larger than a 14.” As if it was inconceivable that anyone would require a size larger than 14 (BTW, they had one pair of size 14 jeans and they were, quite possibly, the ugliest pants I’d ever seen). Mom asked if she knew anyplace around that carried such an outrageous thing (okay, she said it without the sarcasm) and the woman replied that she really wouldn’t know. The clear subtext was that we were defiling her shop with our weightiness. As we left the shop, I tossed back the following comment to her: Well, excuse me for being fat. I don’t think she heard me, but time was I wouldn’t have said it aloud, so I still felt good about it. And I’m having visions of going back once I’ve lost the weight, thus needing a new wardrobe, and telling her, a la Julia Roberts, what a huge mistake she made.
I wanted to go home, but Mom, god bless her, insisted that I use her cell phone (Yes, I had mine with me in my purse, but it wasn’t charged. I know exactly how many of you that fact will surprise. Hey, at least I knew where it was, right?) to call one of the ten other consignment stores within walking distance to ask if they carried larger sizes. So I called Linda Lu’s and the woman who answered the phone was very nice. Better yet, she said they carried plenty of larger sizes and I should come on over. I did. Now I’m the proud owner of two pairs of size 16 jeans and one pair of brand-spankin’ new size 14 jeans. Better yet, the 14s and one of the 16s are Calvin Kleins and the other 16 is Seven. Seven is a brand, which I would never have known but for a beautifully tall, thin friend who says it’s the only brand of jeans that fit her properly. And best of all, this place has fabulous prices. The brand new Calvin Klein 14s were only $18. I love Linda Lu’s. I’m telling everyone I know to go there.
Thanks for your support!
Wonderful! I envy your determination! Keep up the good work.
You DO look thinner. Look how baggy the jeans in the picture are! You’re awesome!
Wow! You’re doing so great!!! And I checked out the purple dress–it’s fabulous, but I feel bad that you’re not going to be able to wear it, because the way you’re going you’ll be too skinny to fit into it and it’ll just fall off you!
So how are your other goals going? (Specifically, writing your book.) You’re kicking this one so hard, I’m guessing the others are fallling in line!
Hooray for you!!!
Thanks guys!
@Pam – Other goals? I had other goals? Oh! right, forgot all about those. 🙂
The reading is coming along. I think I’m on #12 or something like that. I put a chart up about it, but apparently can’t be bothered to check it for accuracy at the moment. 😉
The running is good. I’m hoping to do the 5k in late June or early July. I should really start looking for one…
I already learned to knit, but haven’t had time to pick up my mom’s scarf in a couple of months.
And the novel. I took Lani’s revision class in February and learned a ton. Including the fact that my structure was pretty messed up. I had too many antagonists running around and no clear tie in for my heroine in the beginning of the book. After much hair pulling and gnashing of teeth, I think I finally have the first act figured out. Not written, and I have no idea what happens after that, but figured out.
That’s been the status for about three weeks. My mom was visiting for two of those, so that’s part of my excuse. I did write the first sentence for the book, but now I really need to move forward and write the rest of the new first scene. My plan is to post it here when I’m finished with it to see what people think. I’ll probably run it by a few beta readers first, though.
