◊ Tuesday’s Weigh-in: 203.0 ◊
I’ve been droning on (and on) about weight loss and I’m sick of hearing myself talk about it, so I want to write about something different this week. I’ve got two pretty emotional posts I’m working on, but I’m not quite finished with either one. Pam asked me about progress on other list items last week, so I think I’ll repost my answer here and maybe expound on it.
<Answer to Pam:> The reading is coming along. I think I’m on #12 or something like that. I put a chart up about it, but apparently can’t be bothered to check it for accuracy at the moment.
The running is good. I’m hoping to do the 5k in late June or early July. I should really start looking for one…
I already learned to knit, but haven’t had time to pick up my mom’s scarf in a couple of months.
And the novel. I took Lani’s revision class in February and learned a ton. Including the fact that my structure was pretty messed up. I had too many antagonists running around and no clear tie in for my heroine in the beginning of the book. After much hair pulling and gnashing of teeth, I think I finally have the first act figured out. Not written, and I have no idea what happens after that, but figured out.
That’s been the status for about three weeks. My mom was visiting for two of those, so that’s part of my excuse. I did write the first sentence for the book, but now I really need to move forward and write the rest of the new first scene. My plan is to post it here when I’m finished with it to see what people think. I’ll probably run it by a few beta readers first, though. </answer>
I went to a mini-conference for writers on Saturday. It was fun. I got to meet a couple of local writers I like and found out about a conference in October that is close to home, so I can do it cheaply. I’m totally going to that. I also bought some books – I know, I’m not supposed to do that, but they were on sale! And the writers were there to sign them! And I wanted them! And it’s my rule, so I get to decide when to break it. So…there.
Thanks for the support!
Wow–sounds like you’re doing *great!* Take a bow–you are rocking your goals!!! 🙂
Looking good in the new photo. Glad you are making progress on the books, too. I’m reading a book with great insights on story, perhaps you’ve heard of it. It is by Donald Miller and called A Million Miles in a Thousand Years: What I Learned While Editing My Life. If you don’t already have it, I’ll be happy to pass it along when I’m finished.
Keep up the good work. While I applaud you doing this for yourself, you are also giving a gift to others. You already inspired me to drop about 7 pounds and fit into a dress for my daughter’s Confirmation banquet!
